Douglas Links – Kāpiti Coast, NZ
The Douglas Links occupies a spectacular coastal site north of Paraparaumu Beach, with great natural diversity, sandy soils and an enviable collection of scenic outlooks.
The site is bordered to the south by the Ohau River, and enjoys views along the elevated river bluff and out to both the Tararua Range inland, and the Kāpiti island offshore.
The Douglas Links project is scheduled to begin construction in early 2026.

Douglas Links is a dream project, with a terrific development team in place and a pure–links focus.
Though respectful of New Zealand’s premier modern courses, our aim with the Douglas Links is to complement the wonderful old-school links at nearby Paraparaumu Beach, more than compete with the eye-catching newer designs further north.
The course will feature traditional bunkers, fescue playing surfaces, genuine half-par holes with various risk–reward options, and a series of stunning par threes, fours and fives.
Standout features are almost too numerous to mention, but include the beachside dunes of holes 4, 16 and 17, the elevated river escarpment at 8, 9 and 10, and a series of large individual pop-up dunes that dominate holes such as 5/6, 10, 12, 13 and 15. Most dramatic of all, is the sandy riverside duneland directly adjacent holes 13 and 14 (see rendering above).
Currently, the parcel of land proposed to be developed into the Douglas Links is largely degraded and dominated by introduced vegetation, such as the giant Macrocarpa trees along the beach. Part of the development proposal is to rehabilitate a vast section of the site, and to restore the plant life back to pre-European settlement in as many places as possible.
The southern part of the North Island in New Zealand is a fantastic destination, and often overlooked by travelling golfers seeking the country’s modern layouts. When complete, we believe that Douglas Links and Paraparaumu Beach will be a compelling double act, and help to popularise a strong golf region with plenty of other hidden gems as well.
