Ranked by GOLF Magazine as one of the World’s 25 Best Par 3 Courses.

Darius Oliver is a master golf course designer.

He has an innate ability to feel affinity with the land. He spends much time in contemplation and the result is a uniquely natural look.

It was a great pleasure to watch Darius at work when he designed our par three 9 hole golf course, “The Farm”, at The Hills."

Designing The Farm at The Hills was one of the most rewarding professional experiences of my life. Not only did I have an open minded and supportive client, as well as a stunning property and terrific in-house construction team, I had the opportunity to showcase precisely how I believe short-form golf courses should be arranged.

The Farm features 9 beautiful par threes, each designed to be as difficult or as straightforward as the golfer chooses. With its freeform teeing grounds, there are opportunities on almost every hole to pick a longer shot or a tricker angle, if you seek a test of your ball striking prowess.

At the same time, kids can basically dribble their ball onto eight of the nine greens with a putter. Even the 7th hole, with the water race in front of the green, can be played as a chip shot across a few metres of water – and into a generous, accepting green site.

The Farm can be played with one club or several clubs, and by all golfers and all abilities. It’s perfect for matchplay, and for matches without handicaps – as the better golfer can always be forced onto back tee areas, or to play from tighter angles.

Though it wasn’t designed for public play or ranking recognition, I wasn’t surprised to see GOLF Magazine in America list it among the World’s Top 25 short courses. There isn't another par three course I can think of that I would be happy to play each day for the rest of my life.

Sir Bob Charles, 1963 Open Champion

Augusta is a special place but the pretty par-3 course is like firing darts at the green because if, you hit the green, the ball will end up near the hole.

Whereas the Farm course is a real test of golf with so much variety and choice of shot required, making it a real challenge."
